FAQ
How scoring, standings, and Elo currently work in The Stack.
How is match scoring done in sealed events?
Each match is best-of-3. Valid decisive results are 2-0 or 2-1. Draws (1-1) are allowed in general play, except Round 3 Table 1 where a draw is not allowed.
How do standings work?
Standings sort by: (1) round wins, (2) game record, then (3) table number. A bye counts as a 2-0 match win for standings.
How is Elo calculated?
Elo uses the standard expected-score formula with K=32 and starts at 1200 for new players. Elo changes are zero-sum: one player gains exactly what the other loses.
When does Elo update?
Elo updates after resolved decisive matches as rounds progress. Byes and draws do not produce Elo changes.
Do byes affect Elo?
No. Byes are tracked in event results and standings, but they do not increase or decrease Elo.
Why can’t I edit some rounds?
Once a later round starts, previous rounds are locked. Locked rounds can only be overridden by the event creator.
